Saturday Oct-30 – Monmouth Fidelity Chinese School Annual Halloween Party – To be Held Outdoors in the School Courtyard

Thank you for the many generous donations, adult volunteers, and TA and student volunteers we have received so far.  We still need your help with donations and adult volunteering to make our Halloween party a success for our students and families.  You can make a difference!!!

Saturday October 23 – Preventing Asian-American Hate Crime – Marlboro High School

Mayor Jon Hornik, Council President Jeff Cantor and Chief of Police Peter J. Pezzullo invites the families of Monmouth Fidelity Chinese School to join them in a discussion on safety & security of Asian residents in our community.  They will also take questions or concerns that you may have.   Please see below for additional details.

This new MFCS adult class started on Saturday Oct-16 and they are still accepting registrations.  Please see below for registration details or to get additional details about this exciting new adult class.

Due to the annual Halloween Party, there are no culture classes scheduled on Sat. Oct 30th.  All students are welcomed to come in and participate in the Halloween party outdoors in the school’s protected courtyard.

Sunday October 24 – 2021 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk 

Below is the information for the walk this Sunday. Right now the forecast says about 63 degrees and sunny to partly cloudy on Sunday. 

Please wear your dark grey with pink t-shirts and gather around for a group picture at 9:30am by the stage. We plan to arrive earlier so the traffic and parking situation will be better.  Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, 10/24/21.

Important Event Information

WALK ROUTE – Here is the 2021 CNJ Walk Route. The loop is a little over 1 mile. It’s up to you how many times you want to go around – once, twice or three times!

PARKING – Parking is available at Lot 1 and Lot 2. The closest entrance is from Mill Road. Below is an overall map.

REGISTRATION – 

  • HOW TO REGISTER – All event participants, including children over 10 years of age, need to register. Registration is easysign up online today. You can also register by calling 800.227.2345 option 2. The American Cancer Society’s FUNdraising app is a great resource for registration and management of your fundraising efforts – right from your mobile device! (Mobile App Flyer)

  • PRE-REGISTERED WALKERS – If you have already registered and have no donations to turn in, you can simply begin visiting the tents.  If you have donations to turn it, please stop by the registration tent. All donations should be placed inside an envelope with your name, team name, and total of contents on the outside.

  • STILL NEED TO REGISTER ON WALK DAY?  If you did not pre-register online, please stop by the Registration tent to participate.

*Cash and checks made out to the American Cancer Society will be accepted. You can also make credit card donations at the Registration Tent.

 

BEFORE THE WALK (9:00am-10:00am)

SPONSORSHIP ROW – Be sure to stop by our Sponsors. Our sponsors have fun activities and goodies at their tents for walk participants.

SURVIVOR TENT – The Survivor Tent is a special area for survivors. Survivors will enjoy some snacks, coffee, receive their Survivor Sash, and participate in safe activities—all while creating great memories in the tent. Be sure to stop outside and grab a photo too!

It is important to note that the American Cancer Society defines a survivor as anyone who has heard the words “you have cancer”, so if you are recently diagnosed, currently going through treatment, or are in remission, this tent is for you!

TRIBUTE GARDEN – Tribute Pinwheels, sponsored by Procure Proton Therapy, honor every life touched by cancer.

  • You can dedicate a pinwheel to a loved one lost, someone currently battling, or anyone who’s overcome it.

  • When you make a donation for a tribute pinwheel it helps fund the American Cancer Society’s mission to help save lives.

  • Dedicate a tribute here and it can be credited to a team or participant’s fundraising.

  • Pinwheels purchased before the event will be on display on 10/24. You will also be able to dedicate a pinwheel at the walk on 10/24 and add it to our Garden.

STRIDES SHOP TENT – We have a unique opportunity to allow you to purchase a selection of limited vintage Making Strides gear at the walk. Unfortunately, we won’t have the new event shirts at the walk but you will be able to order current strides gear by visiting 2021 Strides merchandise on our virtual store.

KIDS TENT – Be sure to bring our littlest Striders to the Kids Tents to grab some goodies and do some fun activities!

PACESETTERS – INDIVIDUALS who have raised $2,500 or more are exclusive members of the Pacesetter Club. Pacesetters be sure to visit the stage to receive your gift and snap a photo with the Pacesetter frame.

INFO & SOCIETY CENTRAL – Stop by Society Central and learn more about what the American Cancer Society and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network are doing to help people facing cancer in our community. Here you can learn more about the American Cancer Society’s programs and services, events and volunteer opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to become an ACS CAN member and help advocate for our mission to make cancer a top national priority.

REFRESHMENT TENT – Snacks and water will be available for all walkers at the Refreshment Tent courtesy of our friends at Herr’s. No coffee will be provided.

WALK STARTS (10:00am)

At 9:00am the walk route will open with a ribbon cutting. We kindly ask that everyone SLOWLY enter the walk route and allow distance between other groups. This is not a race! Stop whenever you want or need to. You absolutely do not need to complete the entire walk if you are unable. The walk concludes when the final walker crosses the finish line.

BATHROOMS – For your convenience, toilets are inside the Student Center.

FIRST AID – First Aid will be available for minor injuries in the main event area. Please report any injury needing attention to an American Cancer Society event staff member located at the Information Tent.

WHAT NOT TO BRING – Please do not bring dogs, bikes, picnics, scooters, wheelies, skateboards, rollerblades and skates (strollers and wagons are permitted). Solicitation is also not permitted.  This is a non-smoking/vaping event.

COVID-19 EVENT GUIDELINES – We will be following all CDC and NJ State guidelines to make sure the event is safe for our attendees.

The health and safety of all our guests and participants is our number one priority. Please see below for important details which will continue to be updated based on our unique needs and review the COVID-19 Waiver.

  • If you are feeling sick or have been recently exposed to someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19, you should stay home. People who have underlying health conditions or taking medications that weaken the immune system, should talk to their healthcare provider before attending large gatherings.

  • The CDC has identified these symptoms of a COVID-19 infection. If you have one or more of these symptoms on the day of the event, please stay home. If you are waiting for COVID-19 test results or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home unless you receive a negative test result before the event. Don’t worry, we have virtual options for you as well!

  • Face covers/masks are strongly recommended for unvaccinated attendees ages 2 years and older.

We appreciate your understanding and if you are unable to attend, we hope you will continue to support our mission by donating.

CHECK LIST FOR THE WEEK LEADING UP TO THE WALK:

• Follow-up with the people you have asked to support you and have not heard back from.

• Plan to dress in layers! It can be a little bit chillier in the morning and warmer as the day goes on.

• Wear comfortable shoes!

• It’s not too late to email your Making Strides webpage link or mail your personal fundraising letter.

• Make sure that you get your matching gift form from your Human Resources Department and turn it in with your cash/check donations the day of the walk.

• Post on Facebook this week and share that you are Making Strides on October 24th along with your fundraising link.

• You can send your cash/check donations to the American Cancer Society office located at 2310 Route 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736 (Attn: MSABC CNJ) for all donations that you receive after the walk. Make sure to include your name and team name along with each cash/check donation you mail to our office.

We are now accepting Registration for the adult MFCS clubs Cha-cha-cha dance class.  This elegant and structured rhythmic dance style class is a popular class for adults.  The instructions and choreography will be meet weekly from 9:30am to 10:30am and led by our long time and experienced teacher Mr. Ma.

Sunday October 24 – Marlboro Township’s Trunk or Treat

SAVE the DATE: Sunday, October 24th is Marlboro Township’s Trunk or treat @ the Marlboro Recreation Center.

Trunks and Tables needed! Families, business and organizations are welcomed to participate. If you would like to bring a decorated trunk or have a table please email aguiliano@marlboro-nj.gov 

Trunk or Treat begins at 2:00pm (parade registration at the same time) the Halloween Parade steps off at 3:45pm with Mayor Hornik leading the way.

Prizes are awarded for the best costumes in many categories.

Candy donations for the participating ‘Trunks’ are welcomed.
